In Marketing, Timing is Everything.
Is This Your Message, Your Rowboat, Your Helicopter?

rescue helicopter - in marketing timing is everything

Karl Malden West WingTiming is everything, isn't it.  In marketing, as well as, in life.

I was watching an old episode of The West Wing, recently, in which President Bartlet was having difficulty with a decision of life and death.  He was visited by a religious man - his old parish priest, played by Karl Malden - who offered him some advice in the form of a story …

A man was standing by his house, which was next to a beautiful river in a picturesque valley.  But today the river was a raging torrent, caused by a violent storm and severe rain.  The sound of a radio message could just be heard through the howling wind.  It urged local residents to leave immediately and to travel to safety elsewhere.

The man continued putting things in his garden shed and tying things down securely, as he said to himself …

"I am a religious man. God will save me."

A few minutes later, a couple of men came along the river in a row boat.  They shouted to him to get on board, so they could take him to safety.  The man shouted back to them …

"I am a religious man. God will save me."

And the men rowed away on the increasingly turbulent river.

Several hours later, the man heard the noise of a helicopter hovering above the house.  He opened the front door and looked up at the airman, who shouted through a megaphone.

"I'll lower a rope so we can carry you to safety."

The man shouted back to them …

"I am a religious man. God will save me."

And the airman flew away as the wind and rain lashed down.

A day or two later the man came to - as if waking from a deep sleep.  He had drowned and now found himself at the gates of Heaven.  In disbelief, he explained there must be some mistake …

"I am a religious man. God should have saved me. Why am I here?"

St Peter sent a message and a few minutes later, God appeared.  The man knelt and said,

"I am a religious man. Why didn't you save me?"

And God replied …

"I sent you a message … a row boat … and a helicopter.  What more did you expect me to do!?"

So …

My question for you, dear reader, is this.

This article could be your message … your row boat … or your helicopter … bringing HoneyBee to your attention.  You're not in danger of drowning (I hope) but what help do you need with your finances ... or your marketing … or your website … or your business more generally?

Your God caused this article to be placed in front of you.  She must have done so for a reason.  What is it?
