Pyramid Thinking: Unlocking the Power of Your Network

Today I bumped into an article by Peter Thomson, in which he talked about pyramid thinking … and how you can use that mindset to get in contact with those people who want to engage us to help them solve the problem they have but don't want ... or achieve the result they want but don't have.
The article was so thought-provoking, I felt compelled to share the concept with you … AND … to ask you a favour. But first...
Why do I take notice of Peter Thomson?

About 20 years ago, I attended a weekend event run by the prolific author and marketing legend; Peter Thomson. I'd not met him before and, to be honest, I thought the weekend might be a costly mistake on my part. But I was wrong.
The event was all about productising your services - which was very useful for me in the world of leasehold property, as it enabled me to take my extensive knowledge as a property manager and to turn it into DVDs, eBooks, seminar presentations, training courses and much more. Over the decade following that weekend, the cost of that training was repaid many many times over and I'm incredibly grateful to Peter.
That's why I respect his views on marketing and why his article about Pyramid Thinking caught my attention.
Peter has a 'thing' about pyramids
Peter told the story of when he and his wife; Sharon, went to Mexico on holiday with their family. He has a 'thing' about pyramids and finds them fascinating. That's why they went to see Kukulcán's Pyramid. He also recently went to see the great pyramid in Egypt, on a trip for their wedding anniversary - and that's a place I'd love to revisit soon.
Anyway, back to Peter's story.
There's a model of Kukulcán's Pyramid on Peter's desk to remind him about, what he calls 'Pyramid Thinking'.
Pyramid Thinking is .....
You are sitting atop a pyramid ….. and the many hundreds of people you know are below you. And the people they know are beneath them. Et cetera.
There's a connection there.
That connection,
-
Could be a family member or friend.
-
Could be a work colleague.
-
Could be an association, club or membership organisation.
-
Could be a supplier or another service provider, where there's a strong connection with their list.
Is there a way in which you could get the people below you in your pyramid, to introduce you to the people below them?
The people closest to you in your pyramid know you and what you do. You are good at what you do and I bet they could tell the people below them how good you are.
Why not give it a try?
Explain Pyramid Thinking to them and ask them to introduce you to their 'Pyramid of People'.
It's a simple idea and Peter's used it a great deal during his life. He says "it works like gangbusters!" (A phrase I'm not sure I fully understand - but it sounds pretty positive, doesn't it?)
Pyramid Thinking is a simple idea I believe you can take away and use, today.
Go on then...
Oh, and that favour I mentioned at the start of these words …
Please will you introduce me and HoneyBee to your 'Pyramid of People'? At least, anyone where you feel there might be a good fit.
If you need an introduction to anyone in my 'Pyramid of People' (yes, we all have one) - just let me know and I'll have a word with relevant people in the HoneyBee pyramid.
And please do remember to let me know how Pyramid Thinking works for you.
